What Is a Sterile Air Distributor?
A sterile air distributor distributes filtered, sterile air evenly and without turbulence throughout a room. Sterile air is free of microorganisms and particles – a prerequisite for manufacturing pharmaceuticals, for sensitive electronic components, and for other applications with high purity requirements.
Our laminar flow modules are combined with air filtration systems for this purpose, typically HEPA filters, to reliably maintain the required air cleanliness class.
Which Industries Use Laminar Flow Modules?
Pharmaceutical industry: In the filling of parenteral products and other sterile processes, laminar flow modules ensure the required air cleanliness classes.
Electronics manufacturing: Even the smallest particles can damage sensitive components – laminar flow modules keep cleanrooms particle-free in semiconductor and electronics production.
Medical technology: In operating theatres and other sterile hospital areas, laminar flow modules and ceiling air supply systems ensure controlled, low-germ airflow – an area where we also offer repair and re-covering services (see below).
What Is a Laminar Flow Module?
A laminar flow module transforms turbulent airflow into a laminar, even flow – without turbulence or flow separation. At Lechleiter, this is achieved using a fine-mesh fabric that evens out the air as it passes through.
Laminar Flow Modules in Practice
- Even, turbulence-free air distribution across the entire surface
- Used with HEPA filters for defined cleanroom classes
- Individually selectable mesh size depending on the application
- Frames made of stainless steel or anodized aluminum, FDA-compliant fabric
- Laminar flow independently verified by differential pressure measurement, tested by the Fraunhofer Institute
